ECS SIGMA thermal oxidisers are designed to control odours, volatile organic compounds (VOC) and ash from the laser engraving of printing plates and rolls. The system thermally oxidises the organic contaminants contained in the laser exhaust without need for replacement of filters, activated carbon elements or other collection components. The unit also eliminates solid waste disposal concerns. The system design is based on thermally oxidising the engraver exhaust organic contaminants using a natural gas fired burner.

An optional primary heat exchanger is available to reduce the SIGMA systems natural gas requirements by 70%. The heat exchanger is a "U-tube" shell and tube unit and is specially designed to operate in laser engraver applications. The heat transfer matrix is fabricated using 316L stainless steel.
